the über talented martha put out a call for s t i l l photos this week. the twist for this go around is that she wants you to incorporate a body part. instructions and examples are at the end of this post .
i'm not very good at including people [let alone myself] in my photos... so i thought i would give it a whirl. here's my shot from early this morning.

also

i uploaded my holiday cards to underdog this weekend. above was my personal card from last year. designs from years past are also available. [i can't stop making the skaters . there are also some T's SUPER reduced if you are up for taking a gander.
finally... i'm guest posting at one of my all time favorite blogs this week poppytalk . i tried to highlight some stores/galleries that i really love. all my posts together can be found here
because of the guest posting i might be a little quiet over here. thinking maybe i'll try and post a picture every day? a little challenge to myself.
have a great week!

hello friends.
why the title of this post you ask?
well.... i have decided that it really is time to try and simplify my world a bit, for several reasons. and one of those steps is to let go a bit of underdog ink . i'm not going to totally dismantle it - because who knows - perhaps i'll get a whim to design a shirt - or some jewelry, or a softie or two and i'll want a place to sell that stuff. but i am going to try and clear out the inventory i have at the studio. SO - above is the new design - a little bird saying hello to a giraffe - available on both women's T's and baby/toddler Ts [sizes 6-12 through 4T] and totes. AND - all the older designs i have - women's - baby's - and jewelry are 15-45% off. i’m most likely never going to reprint any old imagery [at least not in the same color/shirt combos]– so now is the time to grab something – pretend it’s christmas in august.

the other reason this is a leap is because i'm going to try and use/save any proceeds from this sale for a build lisa a studio fund. i love my studio. i love that it's only 5 minutes away from my house. but i'm realizing that i really need to time manage better - if i have an hour of "free" time i want to be able to use it in my studio. i can't do that now. just the effort of packing myself and the dogs into the car means i need to have at least 3 hours of time. plus i'm always leaving something i need in one place or the other... and thus i am going to attempt to build myself a space in my backyard. going into debt scares me - but i know this is worth it ! and if aurora has taught me anything it's that i must ask the universe for things that i truly want.
a set of plans by a very very dear one [close to our favorite bug ] are almost complete. i have a feeling this is going to be one huge roller coaster ride....
anyways. thanks, as always, for your continued support - and if you are up for early christmas shopping - visit underdog ink!
have a great friday and weekend

that was my "area" at the holiday sale. i was SO excited - the little target piece on the left {with the pink flower} went to a very very good home. i had been squirreling that piece away in my studio not wanting to let it go - but then thought, no... maybe i should sell it.... and then off it went to someone i adore. that makes for a happy artist!
sale was good. exhausting, but good.

that's how it all looked.
i got to meet a new to me artist : Andrea Brewster. her tatted [yes tatted!] artworks were divine. i hope to own one some day

i just put all the urchin stuff online at underdog ink! . i'm pretty happy with how it all turned out. i'm excited as i started using blanks from alternative apparel . they are another company that tries to be sustainable, and fair to their workers - they have GREAT designs and these shirts are SO SOFT.... very dreamy.
anyway - if any of you bloggy folks want any underdog merch i'll happily give you 10% off your order [of anything]. just email me at :: underdogink.net{at}gmail{dot}com and i'll send you a separate paypal invoice.
gotta motor as my favorite bug is literally on her way here... and i have to get through some more grading before she arrives...
bear with my absences a tad longer... i'll be back soon!

have to pack up the car and get myself to the
Holiday Shop Sale
today from 2-7pm and tomorrow from 10-4
5528 Dover Street [enter on 56th street]
oakland, CA 94609
i saw a sneak peek of all the goods and there are some amazing things - including some vintage finds that our hosts are de-accessing [fancy word for purging]. i have a feeling i'll be spending whatever i'm making.
anyway - above is one of the new urchin shirts! woo!
have a great day and weekend.

oh my god. how much do i want this dress?? anthrolopogie i curse you for making things that i want all the time. why oh why? this dress makes me want to do a gray doily installation and then stand in the middle of it wearing it.... sigh.

over the summer i did a wedding invitation design/printing. go gocco go! they just got married, so i think it's safe to reveal the design. i loved that this couple went for blue and brown - such a nice and nontraditional color combo. i liked the urchin that i drew for them so much that it's going to end up on some underdog goodies very soon. [i'm in the midst of getting it all together]
and speaking of underdog :

the winter skaters are back and i also put up my holiday card from last year:

just in odd chance you don't want to make your own cards this year.... and happen to like mine.... you can buy them [heh heh!]
this year i broke down and just had my cards off-set printed. as much as i love making my own i couldn't fathom gocco-ing all thanksgiving again. not when i have a show i have to finish before the end of december. i actually really like how they came out [i'll show you after i send them out!]- but i do miss the gocco. i'll have to print something else for fun sometime soon.....
the documentary project will return next week. since it's the crazy holiday time of year [already?!] shari and i are going to post every-other week! and shari - you'll be proud - i have SOUND!! :) i just have to figure out how to get it on the blog.

i've been playing with beads. i actually made all the above a while back, but couldn't manage to update underdog until recently. there's all the new jewels above, tree notes, and spring style shirts are re-stocked {there's also a couple new color combos}. baby rhino T's are also re-stocked. so if you are looking for a mother's day gift... well - there's a lot out there, no? [not that you have to buy from me - but support small artists if you can!] all bloggy friends get free first class shipping from me! i'll either refund your paypal account or email me for a separate invoice.
the documentary project is on shari's today.
enjoy the rest of your monday!
